Shots fired at Terrace Motorcade Parade, officials say

MOBILE COUNTY, Ala. (WKRG) — The Mobile Police Department is investigating after it says shots rang out as floats were rolling at the Terrace Motorcade Parade on Saturday.

WKRG was already at the parade filming when a News 5 photographer saw the shooting take place on Lincoln Blvd. and Fourth Street. Other witnesses say they ran and hid behind houses and cars.

Officers say no one was hit and two cars were struck. The parade kept rolling despite the shooting. News 5 spoke with one of the organizers of the parade who was standing nearby on the route.

“From my understanding, me and the officers were already heading toward this way when we heard the shots. I applaud the officers because they ran behind to try to catch the two gentlemens,” parade organizer Evone Garden said. “I hope that whoever did the shooting, don’t bring it to our community you know, we are out here to have a good time, we are out here to make it safe.”

Right now, there is no word on what led up to the shots…
