MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — Newly released 9-1-1 transcripts are shedding light on the chaos that unfolded during two separate and unrelated shootings in downtown Mobile following Joe Cain Day celebrations.
One man was killed and eight others were wounded in the incidents, which happened within minutes of each other, and just blocks apart, late Sunday night on February 15 in the downtown entertainment district.
Investigators say Javeli Alexander was trying to rob a man and take his jewelry when the two exchanged gunfire in the parking lot at Government and Joachim. Police say at least 28 rounds were fired. Bullets hit unoccupied cars, trailers and a portable toilet. Police have since arrested Rodney Davis and charged him with felony murder under Alabama law for a death that resulted from the alleged attempted robbery…
