Mobile mayor outlines new transit plan: ‘I’m obsessed with trolleys’

MOBILE, Ala.  (WKRG) — Mobile’s mayor says big changes are coming to the city’s public transit system as easy improvements under the city’s new partnership with VIA are already showing results.

In just 90 days, Mobile’s bus system has gone from canceling roughly 20% of scheduled routes to nearly zero missed runs all without increasing the city’s transit budget.

Mayor Spiro Cheriogits told city council members the WAVE transit system is now fully staffed, a key step for improving reliability for riders across the city.
