MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — After 40 years, the Alabama Pecan Festival has held its last festival, according to organizers.

In a Facebook post Monday, Executive Director Billy Bolton said the festival has officially closed.
“We want to thank every sponsor, vendor and volunteer that supported us. We could not have done this without you,” he said. “Most importantly we want to thank the Lord. Running a festival is not easy. We consider ourselves blessed to have served the community for so long.”
Bolton said the pecan pies the public has come to know and love so much are not going away…
