EVERGREEN, Ala. (WKRG) — A dentist from Conecuh County, Alabama, has been sentenced for carrying out an insurance fraud scheme.

According to a news release from Attorney General Steve Marshall, Douglas Patrick O’Connor was sentenced to serve 15 years in prison for second-degree arson and first-degree insurance fraud.
On the night of March 28, 2025, O’Connor was reportedly captured on surveillance footage arriving at his dental office, which was closed at the time.
He then lit a match and threw it inside the office, causing an explosion, at around 9:48 p.m., according to the release.
The office was destroyed, and left the Alabama State Trooper Post next door with $63,000 in damage. Gasoline was later found on O’Connor’s clothes and on the office floor, the release said…
