MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The former Hoffman Furniture building on Dauphin Street is under new ownership as local investors and a developer explore options for the historic structure.
Local investors partnered with Porchlight LLC to form Cheerful Credit LLC — a name referencing the Hoffman family’s commercials. The building’s future use has not been determined.
Boutique hotel among options under consideration
“First off, the goal is historic preservation of the building,” said John Ruzic, director of real estate at Porchlight. “One possibility for this building is a boutique hotel, it’s still in the exploratory phase.”
Nearby businesses see potential benefit
Businesses near the Dauphin Street building said redevelopment could draw more foot traffic to the area.
“I think it will be good,” said Kirby Ngo, manager of Frenchman Gallery. “It’ll be nice for the building to be revamped and bring some more people toward that end of Dauphin Street. It’ll bring more customers in.”…
