Southbound San Ysidro Port of Entry blocked for 30 minutes, creates traffic chaos

SAN DIEGO (Border Report) — Teachers in Mexico belonging to the National Coordinator of Education Workers in Baja California joined a nationwide demonstration to protest lower pension benefits by blocking the southbound lanes of the San Ysidro Port of Entry late Wednesday morning.

The gathering began about a mile from the border with approximately 200 teachers marching toward the crossing.

The group walked through Zona Río concluding the demonstration at the port of entry where traffic enters the city of Tijuana in an area known as “El Chaparral.”
