Judge denies request to dismiss charges against former Bayou La Batre officer

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – A judge denied a request by the defense to dismiss some of the charges against a former Bayou La Batre police officer accused of raping a child.

William “BJ” Squires is charged with first-degree rape, second-degree rape and first-degree sexual abuse.

His lawyer argued that all three charges relate to the same alleged conduct against the same alleged victim during the same incident. She argued that the law doesn’t allow him to be convicted on all three charges and that the sexual abuse and second-degree charges should be dismissed…
