2026 Gulf Coast Challenge set to deliver ultimate HBCU experience in Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — The city of Mobile is gearing up for three days of culture and competition as the 2026 Gulf Coast Challenge, powered by the Mobile Sports Authority, kicks off Thursday, October 1 through Saturday, October 3. This high-energy tradition has become known as the ultimate HBCU experience.

At the heart of the eventful week, is the much-anticipated football showdown between Jackson State University and Alabama A&M University set for Saturday, October 3 at 4:00 p.m. at Ladd-Peebles Stadium, located at 1621 Virginia Street, Mobile, AL 36604.

“Together with our event partners, the City and County of Mobile and Brothers Working Together, the Mobile Sports Authority (MSA) is looking forward to co-hosting another exciting weekend of HBCU football at Ladd this October,” said Danny Corte, Executive Director of the Mobile Sports Authority. “This marks the 9th Gulf Coast Challenge Powered by the Mobile Sports Authority and our 11th HBCU game since bringing HBCU football back to Mobile in 2016. Jackson State and Alabama A&M have a long track record of delivering exciting games, and we expect that tradition to continue this fall.”…
