CITRONELLE, Ala. (WKRG) — With a statewide fire alert in Alabama in place, wildfires have scorched thousands of acres across the state.

In just the past few days, 50 wildfires have burned more than 2300 acres across the state.
In Citronelle, hundreds of acres have burned since Saturday, fueled by dry and windy conditions. Smoke fills the air as flames eat away at the forest off Robert Walker Road.
“There’s about 500 acres that we see right now,” Andy Reier with the Alabama Forestry Commission said. “But that number’s liable to change.”
