CHP arrests Stockton man connected to last month’s fatal hit-and-run on I-80

A Stockton big-rig driver accused of fleeing the scene after a fatal Interstate 80 crash near Clipper Gap that killed a Colfax driver last month was arrested in Martinez, the California Highway Patrol announced.

Officers from the CHP’s Auburn office responded to reports of a crash on Interstate 80 east of Clipper Gap just after 11 p.m. May 26. Investigators determined a Freightliner truck tractor hauling a water-filled tank trailer collided with the center divider, causing the trailer to separate and enter the eastbound lanes, where it struck a Ford F-150
