(FOX40.COM) — Firefighters responded to a kitchen fire on Tuesday afternoon in the Ripon area that the homeowners apparently extinguished themselves — until additional fire was discovered still burning behind a wall.
The Ripon Consolidated Fire District said in a post on Facebook that upon arrival, crews immediately began checking for additional fire despite no fire being visible inside the home.
Firefighters carefully opened cabinets and sections of drywall to ensure the fire had not spread into “hidden spaces,” fire officials said. Firefighters later found fire burning behind a wall.
“This incident is a great reminder that even when a fire appears to be out, hidden hot spots can remain,” fire officials said. “Always call 911 after any fire, no matter how small it may seem. Our crews have the tools, including thermal imaging cameras, to locate and extinguish hidden fire, helping keep your home and family safe.”…
