A massive subdivision that could reshape Stockton’s northwest edge cleared a critical hurdle last month, as the City Council voted to move the Bear Creek South project forward—a 530-acre development that would eventually add up to 2,241 homes to the area near Eight Mile Road and Morada Lane.
The July 7 vote had two parts: the Council denied an appeal filed by a resident named Mary Elizabeth and upheld a Planning Commission approval for one of the project’s three tentative maps, and it authorized the annexation-related entitlements for the broader Bear Creek South area, according to Resolution No. 2026-07-07-0902-02.
The land along North West Lane and East Morada Lane currently sits outside Stockton city limits, so annexation is a necessary step before development can proceed.
