California health officials are alerting people who traveled on several Amtrak trains and connecting buses earlier this month after an unvaccinated passenger who later developed measles traveled through six counties.
The California Department of Public Health said Sept. 18 that the passenger was later hospitalized after traveling across the country by rail and bus. The California portion of the trip included stops and transfers in Los Angeles, Kern, San Joaquin, Butte, Sacramento and Alameda counties before the passenger continued toward Denver.
State officials are working with local health departments and federal partners to identify people who may have been exposed.

The passenger entered California aboard Amtrak’s California Zephyr route from Chicago to Los Angeles, arriving at Los Angeles Union Station on Sept. 12 after departing Chicago on Sept. 10…
