Driver was late for work, CHP says. Leading officers on a Turlock chase didn’t help

A driver speeding on his way to work Tuesday morning on southbound Highway 99 failed to yield to California Highway Patrol officers, resulting in a six-minute pursuit.

Modesto resident Brian Gomes, 30, was arrested and charged with reckless evasion of a peace officer, reckless driving on the highway and driving without a valid license.

According to a Facebook post from the CHP, Gomes said he was speeding because he was late for work. The post says he was clocked at over 100 miles per hour and was “using the right shoulder, center median and even crossing double yellow lines to pass other motorists.”…
