Did the mom-to-be witness a break-in at a house across the street from her home on the day she went missing more than 20 years ago?

Scott Peterson is serving a life sentence for the 2002 murder of his pregnant wife, Laci, and their unborn child, but earlier this month, new attorneys representing him are focused on reexamining a decades-old burglary they hope will raise doubts about his guilt.

“The Los Angeles Innocence Project represents Scott Peterson and is investigating his claim of actual innocence,” says the organization that, according to its website, provides pro bono services and representation to those they believe are “convicted of crimes they did not commit.”

The break-in occurred around the time Laci, who was 27 and eight months pregnant, disappeared on Christmas Eve 2002 while her husband was out of town on a fishing trip.
