A man was shot by Stockton police who were responding to a disturbance in which two parents were arguing and the dad was threatening to stab the mom.
A woman at the scene was taken to a hospital with stab wounds.
The shooting happened on the 1500 block of East Eleventh Street. Arriving officers had been called shortly after 9 a.m. on Saturday regarding the disturbance and had been told a man was armed with a knife, according to a news release from the police department.
The officers found the man, and the shooting occurred, according to police. In their statement police did not say how exactly the situation escalated or how the shooting happened. It was also unclear how many officers responded to the call.
The man, whose identity police did not release, also was taken to a hospital.
Police said they did not know the condition of either the man or woman.
Police said no officers were injured during their response to the incident, which is under investigation.
