Stockton officers shoot two men armed with knives over weekend: police

A Stockton police officer shot a man armed with a knife in south Stockton on Sunday, less than 48 hours after police shot another man with a knife across town.

Around 8 p.m. Sunday, officers rushed to an address near 1600 East Bianchi Road following a report of a man carrying a knife, according to a Stockton Police Department release Sunday night.

Officers found a man with a knife at the scene, and at least one officer shot him, the release stated. It’s unclear how many officers total were present.

Paramedics arrived and rushed a woman who had been stabbed to the hospital, according to police, as well as the man who had been shot. As of about 10:40 a.m. Monday, both were in critical condition, according to department spokesman Officer Omer Edhah.

The department has shared no details yet about what happened in the moments before the shooting. No officers were injured, according to the statement Sunday.

Police have not released the names of the officers involved or of those wounded.
