Police said the checkpoint will be conducted from 6:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.
According to the agency, the DUI checkpoint location is based on data where incidents of impaired driving-related crashes occur. Police said the purpose of a DUI checkpoint is to promote road safety and to take suspected impaired drivers off the road.
Funding for the program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Why does California law enforcement announce DUI checkpoints?
“Impaired drivers put others on the road at significant risk,” Modesto Police Sgt. Robert Hall said. “Any prevention measures that reduce the number of impaired drivers on our roads significantly improves traffic safety.”
