Man pleads guilty to murdering San Joaquin County woman during home break-in

STOCKTON, Calif. – A man accused of killing a 58-year-old San Joaquin County woman last April during a home break-in pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree murder. Kristopher Sawyer, 38, broke into the victim’s home in French Camp sometime between April 15-16, 2023, and shot her in the head while she was in the bathroom, according to a press release from San Joaquin County District Attorney Ron Freitas. Sawyer then took several items from the home and fled in the victim’s truck.
