Tough on crime California Sheriff says he may ‘destroy’ some of the 80 vehicles seized in sideshow

After a major sideshow crackdown on February 3 in Stockton, San Joaquin County Sheriff Patrick Withrow has declared that nearly 90 seized vehicles will not be returned until directed by a judge or the District Attorney’s office.

The seizure, part of the sheriff’s zero-tolerance approach to sideshows, included 88 vehicles and led to the detention of 150 individuals, with several arrests made and the discovery of firearms and drugs inside some impounded cars.

Deputies from a specialized sideshow task force confiscated the vehicles on February 3, emphasizing the seriousness of reckless driving and donut displays during sideshow events.

As part of their evidence collection, the sheriff’s office impounded the cars involved in the sideshow, and deputies will seek court orders to destroy those deemed dangerous.

This marks the first time Sheriff Withrow’s office has seized such a large number of vehicles, and he believes it will send a clear message.
