Manteca teenage cancer survivor gets surprised with Super Bowl tickets

(FOX40.COM) — Teenager Mason Ferrulli and his parents visited Phil Waterford at his Ford dealership like they would on any other day.

When Ferrulli entered the dealership, the Manteca 16-year-old received he a surprise he never imagined.

Ferrulli was surprised with a pair of Super Bowl tickets to watch his favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers, take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Las Vegas.

“You are going to the Super Bowl, Mason. You and your dad are going to the Super Bowl,” Waterford told Ferrulli. “You’re gonna sit in the lower level, the lower bowl and you’re not just going to the game, you’re going to the game. You’re a part of it. So, I’m gong to present you with two tickets.”

Ferrulli and Waterford have become close friends after meeting several years ago around the time the teen began to battle cancer. Ferrulli is a survivor of spinal and brain cancer.

“I’ve always told Mason, the doctors give the diagnosis, but God gives the prognosis,” Waterford said. “I promised him many years ago that he’s going to get through this, but we’re going to get through this together.”
