Fires spark throughout Stanislaus County, Modesto. Here’s a roundup of them

Multiple fires broke out in Stanislaus County on Thursday, one of which injured two firefighters and displaced a Turlock resident, according to the Modesto Fire Department.

The following are summaries of the fires reported by MFD.

Turlock fire

At about noon, firefighters responded to reports of a grass fire near the intersection of Lander and Linwood avenues. They saw that the fire was expanding to an outbuilding and multiple cars on the 200 block of Montana Avenue.

Initially, a quint and an engine responded. However, the call was upgraded to a structure fire, prompting nine engines, one quint, two battalion chiefs, two deputy chiefs and the Stanislaus County Fire Investigation Unit.

Two firefighters were injured battling the fire, which was contained to about an acre.

A total of 22 vehicles, an RV and a residential outbuilding were destroyed or damaged. One resident was displaced.

The two firefighters were taken to an emergency room and were later released. The extent of their injuries was not disclosed by MFD.
