A 2-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after being shot on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Stockton Police Department.
Officers responded to an apartment complex on the 1200 block of North Commerce Street around 2:35 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a possible shooting.
When officers arrived to the apartment complex, they were told that a gunshot victim was taken to a nearby hospital, police said.
Officers went to the hospital, where they learned that the child had been shot.
The police department said the child has since been transported to a Sacramento-area hospital. His injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
It’s not clear what led up to the shooting. However, police said the shooting appears to have been “accidental.” An investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
