Calif. corrections official dies after coming into contact with unknown substance in mail

ATWATER, Calif. – An official with the Federal Bureau of Prisons has died after being exposed to an unidentified substance, according to a news release. On Friday, Aug. 9, Supervisory Correctional Systems Specialist Marc Fischer died from a medical episode, according to the release. Despite the swift response from co-workers and local emergency medical services, Fischer was pronounced dead at a local hospital following exposure to an unknown substance in the mail.
