Stockton: Cooling Zones Offered To Community Members During Hot Temps This Week

Bay City News

Cooling zones will be available during the triple-digit heat this week in Stockton.

Stockton’s community centers are where people can go to escape the heat and be in cooled-down temperatures, according to the city.

Arnold Rue, Stribley and Van Buskirk community centers are open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All centers will be closed on Sunday.

Seating will be offered at the locations in an air-conditioned area with water provided for visitors, city staff said.

However, people are encouraged to bring books, games, and electronic devices for entertainment since sports courts and equipment is typically in use for other scheduled activities.

Arnold Rue Community Center is located at 5758 Lorraine Ave., Stribley Community Center is at 1760 E. Sonora St., and Van Buskirk Community Center is located at 734 Houston Ave.

Seifert Community Center, located at 128 W. Benjamin Holt Drive, is not open to the community until 2 p.m. on weekdays, as it is a shared facility with Stockton Unified School District.
