Coroner identifies victim of fatal shooting in Stockton’s Weston Ranch neighborhood

Detectives are still working to determine a motive behind Sunday’s fatal shooting in Weston Ranch, but authorities did release the victim’s name.

Charles Alexander, 57, of Stockton was identified by the San Joaquin County Medical Examiner’s Office after next of kin was notified.

He is the city’s 35th homicide victim of 2024 .

Alexander was found unresponsive by officers who first arrived to the 900 block of Henry Long Boulevard at about 12:15 a.m. Sunday on the report of a person shot. He was suffering from multiple gunshot injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

More than 24 hours after his death, police had no releasable suspect information and the motive remained under investigation, according to Officer Omer Edhah, a spokesperson for the Stockton Police Department.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted online at stocktoncrimestoppers.org . Stockton Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward up to $10,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
