PIERRE, (KCCR) – Two California men are spending more time in central South Dakota following their arrest on drug and other charges last weekend. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says an officer on patrol noticed a vehicle driving with it’s lights off near East Elizabeth and North Highland Avenue around nine-pm on Saturday night. The officer became suspicious of drug activity when talking with the driver, 55 year-old Scoty Michaels of Modesto, California. Michaels admitted to the officer of having paraphernalia in the car. Officers found a pipe and syringe which tested presumptive positive for methamphetamine. Michaels was arrested on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia and Ingestion of a Controlled Substance. The next day police learned Michaels was actually 55 year-old Michael Scott Hearon of Modesto, California. Hearon had multiple warrants and was arrested on the warrants, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Ingestion of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Paraphernalia and False Impersonation.
