‘Filled with life and love’: Family of Stockton homicide victim raising money for funeral

The family of a Stockton woman who was found dead in an apartment unit after a man had a standoff with police are raising money to pay for funeral costs.

Keyera Shepard, 26, was “filled with life and love,” according to a statement from Sharon Hayes, who created the fundraiser on GoFundMe . The fundraiser, which was created on Tuesday, had raised nearly $2,000 as of Friday morning.

“She was a devoted mother to her son and a loving niece, sister, and friend to those who were fortunate to be a part of her life,” Hayes said.

Hayes said the shooting not only took Shepard’s life, but seriously injured her 1-year-old son, “who is now fighting for his life in the ICU.”

“He will now grow up without the love of his mother,” Hayes said.
