DMV closing Stockton office as services move online

(FOX40.COM) — A Stockton area DMV office will close this week as part of the transportation office’s transition from in-person to online for many services.

At 5 p.m. on Friday, the Stockton Driver Safety Office at 710 North American St. will close.

California DMV will no longer process these services at offices

According to the California DMV, these offices mainly serve drivers looking for hearings about possible DMV actions to suspend or restrict driving privileges.

These offices do not provide driver’s license applications/renewals or vehicle registrations.

Once the office closes, drivers will be referred to the DMV’s online case management system where drivers and their attorneys can check their case status or requirements to reinstate a suspended license. The new site will also allow for virtual hearings.

Employees at the Stockton DSO will be reassigned to nearby DMV locations.

Applications for $725 monthly payments to Sacramento County families open

The DMV says it will continue to consolidate the number of DSO locations across the state as they continue to move services online.
