A man wanted in connection with an attempted murder in Calaveras County was arrested in Stockton by members of a U.S. Marshals Service Task Force, authorities said.
Johnny Miller, 34, of West Point was found around 4 p.m. Thursday at a property in the 8900 block of Highway 88 in Stockton, California Highway Patrol said. Miller had been wanted on charges of attempted murder, carjacking, and several other violent felonies stemming from joint investigations by California Highway Patrol and Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office.
The agencies worked with the Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office to obtain an arrest warrant for an incident that happened in the West Point area in August, CHP officials said.
The U.S. Marshals Service Task Force was also contacted to assist in Miller’s arrest, which was considered a high priority, given the nature of the charges against him, according to authorities.
While trying to apprehend Miller, investigators said he attempted to flee on foot while brandishing what appeared to be a firearm, but was arrested after a brief chase.
