California man wins astounding $2 million prize from lucky Lottery Scratchers ticket

Donald Simon’s routine trip to the landfill took a surprising turn when he won a $2 million prize from a California Lottery Scratchers ticket. While en route to the dump, Simon stopped at My Goods Market in Stockton, where a $20 investment in an Instant Prize Crossword ticket paid off in a major way.

Initially thinking he’d won just $2,000, Simon was shocked to realize he had scored the game’s $2 million top prize. The following day, Simon’s boss jokingly teased him about his day off, but Simon was ready with a photo of his big win. Despite his windfall, he remains an avid Scratchers player, with a stash of tickets still in his car.

My Goods Market, where Simon purchased his lucky ticket, will also receive a $10,000 bonus for the sale.

Simon isn’t alone in celebrating a win. Other recent California Lottery millionaires include Mustan Mahmud of Los Angeles, who won $5 million on a 100X Scratchers game, Regino Meza of Temecula, with a $1 million win from a Multiplier Craze ticket, and Audrey Palacios De La Hoya of Highland, who also won $1 million on an Ultimate Cash! Scratchers game.
