Stockton City Council to hold special meeting to approve changes to ARPA-funded projects

The Stockton City Council will meet for a special session Wednesday morning to approve final adjustments to projects funded with American Rescue Plan Act dollars.

The special session will be held at the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel, located at 110 W. Fremont St. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. and is open to the public.

City staff is recommending that the city council adopt a resolution approving the following adjustments to the American Rescue Plan Act projects:

  • Allocate $2,000,000 to support Banner Island Ballpark upgrades;
  • Allocate $2,558,000 to purchase and install four emergency generators for the new city hall;
  • Increase the allocation for the animal shelter facilities upgrade project by $462,072;
  • Allocate $500,000 to the Northeast Stockton Library and Community Center project.

The American Rescue Plan Act , which was signed into law by President Joe Biden in 2021, established the Coronavirus State Fiscal Recovery Fund and Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Fund. They provide a combined $350 billion in direct aid to states and cities to replenish governments that experienced tax revenue shortfalls as businesses locked down during the coronavirus pandemic.
