(FOX40.COM) — Kevin Lincoln, the mayor of Stockton running as a Republican in the race for the 9th Congressional District of California, has conceded to incumbent Democrat Josh Harder .
Lincoln’s campaign made the announcement on Wednesday night, two days after Harder claimed victory .
The Associated Press has not made a call on the race, but as of Thursday afternoon, Harder had more than 117,000 votes compared to Lincoln’s nearly 109,000 votes, a difference of just over three percentage points.
“While the results are not what we had hoped for, I remain incredibly proud of the journey we’ve shared and the incredible progress we’ve made together. I want to thank every volunteer, supporter, and voter who believed in our vision for a stronger Valley,” reads a message from Lincoln’s campaign.
