Halal Pizza voted readers’ favorite Stockton halal restaurant

At just 30 years old, Shakir Muhammad is continuing the family legacy his father started more than a decade ago.

The family-owned pizza restaurant, Halal Pizza, was recently voted by The Stockton Record readers as the best halal restaurant in Stockton.

The Stockton Record identified seven halal restaurants in Stockton and asked readers to vote for their favorite. The poll opened on Friday, Nov. 15 and it closed on Friday, Nov. 29.

Of the 36 Stockton Record readers who voted in the poll, 41.7% selected Halal Pizza as the best halal restaurant in Stockton . Go Falafel Greek Food came in second at 33.3% and Kabob & Gyro House was voted third at 16.7%.

All in the family

Muhammad told The Stockton Record during a recent interview that his father opened the restaurant on March Lane in 2013.

His father, Nisar Muhammad, was born in Attock, Pakistan in 1957. He came to Stockton in the late 1980s, and decided he wanted to open a business in the city after owning grocery stores in Pakistan, his son said.
