Volunteers needed for head count of homeless in Modesto on January 30

Modesto and other communities in Stanislaus County are looking for volunteers to carry out a head count of the local homeless population. The 2025 Homeless Point-in-Time Count will take place on January 30. Volunteers must complete two hours of training. Those interested can register online.

When registering, volunteers will be asked to indicate the community where they prefer to work. Volunteers will interview sheltered and unsheltered homeless individuals. The surveys will be completed on a mobile app. Volunteers will also distribute “comfort kits,” consisting of socks, hygiene supplies and information on resources for the homeless.

Bright Mind is a non-profit supporting the homeless in California. Those interested in joining the organization as a volunteer can get further information at the group’s website.
