The end of the year is the traditional time to look back before moving on to the new year.
Many people post their top 10 lists of their favorite this or that and I’m not much different, except my list goes one better. Or make that two.
Here is a list of 12 of my favorite photos from 2024, one from every month of the year.
Now, it’s not a perfect system. Picking just one photo from each month means that some great photos may be regulated to the cutting room floor because they may not be the best in one month, though they may be better than pictures in other months.
But some sort of criteria has to be used.

My first favorite picture of the year comes from a soccer game at St. Mary’s in Stockton on Jan. 12.
It depicts St. Mary’s Jamison LaTour leaping high into the air to head the ball. The grimace on his face shows the supreme effort he’s putting into the play as other players look up in anticipation of where the ball is going to end up.
