Stanislaus County Library celebrates grand opening of Modesto Express Library

(FOX40.COM) — Stanislaus County will be celebrating their grand opening of Modesto Express Library in Downtown Modesto.

The event is set to take place on Monday at 10 a.m. with the ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a story time in the plaza at 10:30 a.m.

According to a press release by the Stanislaus County Library, the idea of opening an express library was inspired by the temporary closing of the Modesto Library that took place in December.

The original library is set to open back up in the Summer of 2026 after completing its critical infrastructure upgrades and enhancements to amenities.

The new Express Library is located at 1002 10th Street in Modesto and is open to everyone of all ages, allowing the community to check out books, apply for a library card, pick up holds, return materials, print and scan, and so much more.

“Whether you’re a regular library user or stopping by for the first time, the Express Library in 10th Street Plaza is a great spot to discover what the library has to offer. We’re looking forward to seeing you soon!” said County Librarian Sarah Dentan.
