In an effort to address gun violence in Stockton, the local Police Department is hosting a firearm buyback event. Scheduled for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., community members can exchange firearms for cash gift cards without needing identification, ensuring anonymity. The event will take place at the Harrison Street Parking Lot, located at 300 N. Harrison St.
The department stated, “As part of our gun violence reduction strategy through responsible gun ownership, the Stockton Police Department will be conducting a firearm buyback.” Participants are instructed to bring their unloaded firearms and place them in the trunk, according to an official Facebook post by the Stockton Police Department. Upon arrival at the venue, individuals will be guided by SPD employees.
