STOCKTON, Calif. — In a sweeping crackdown to prevent illegal sideshow activity, Stockton police say they made more than 700 traffic stops over the Cinco de Mayo weekend, issuing more than 620 citations and towing at least 150 cars.
The high-visibility operation, which spanned several days, involved law enforcement agencies from across San Joaquin County. It was designed to flood the streets with officers and deter sideshow gatherings known for reckless driving, stunts and disruptive behavior.
“Just from those (enforcements) alone, we didn’t have any sideshows in town,” said Stockton Police Department spokesperson Omer Edhah. “I mean, we had officers everywhere, we flooded the streets.”…
