MODESTO, Calif. – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has launched its fleet of 2024 Dodge Durango Specially Marked Patrol Vehicles (SMPVs), with immediate impact in the Modesto area, the agency announced.
According to the CHP, one of the new SMPVs caught a reckless driver just one mile from the CHP Modesto Area office on its very first day of service.
These SMPVs are designed to blend into everyday traffic, giving officers a better chance to observe dangerous behavior in real time. CHP says 100 of these unmarked Durangos will be deployed statewide in the coming month to improve traffic safety. …
