San Joaquin County to develop behavioral health Campus with $137M funding boost

FRENCH CAMP, Calif. — San Joaquin County’s Behavioral Health Services announced it received $137 million to build a behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment facility.

Spread across 23 acres of land in French Camp, the Be Well Campus will include 5,000 residential treatment beds, and 172 of them are dedicated to psychiatric health and substance use disorders for youth and adults.

“The Be Well Campus is more than a facility — it’s a commitment to making mental and behavioral health care accessible, compassionate, and dignified for everyone in our community,” the chair of the San Joaquin Board of Supervisors, Paul Canepa, wrote in a statement. “We are investing in care that treats the whole person, especially our most vulnerable residents, and bringing services closer to home.”…
