Smash-and-grab robbery at Modesto jewelry store leads to four arrests, linked to other California cases

Around 6 p.m., the Modesto Police Department responded to a robbery at Sai Jewelers, located at 2900 Standiford Avenue. Police said a red Mitsubishi rammed the store’s front doors, which allowed multiple suspects—wearing hoodies, masks, and gloves—to enter the business and steal a large amount of jewelry before fleeing in several vehicles.

Just minutes before the robbery call, officers said they were investigating a stolen vehicle after it was flagged by the department’s License Plate Reader (LPR) system. That investigation resulted in the arrest of four individuals. Inside their vehicle, officers found items similar to those used in the jewelry store robbery.

The stolen car and robbery are believed to be related, according to MPD. Additionally, police said the suspects may also be linked to similar robberies in Oakland, Alameda County, and Beverly Hills…
