San Joaquin County appoints Tiffany Cacho as director of emergency operations

The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors appointed Tiffany Cacho as its new director of emergency operations on May 13.

Despite a nearly unanimous vote, Cacho’s appointment drew both support and opposition at the board of supervisors meeting. The lone supervisor who voted against her appointment questioned her qualifications and past performance during county emergencies.

The position leads the San Joaquin County Office of Emergency Services, which coordinates emergency response efforts throughout the county.

Cacho, a longtime county employee, replaced former Lodi Police Chief Sierra Brucia, who stepped down in April after a year in the role. Cacho previously served as the department’s deputy director under Brucia.
