A walnut silo at the Diamond Foods processing facility in Stockton caught fire early Thursday, officials said.
Fire crews initially responded Tuesday to the facility at Diamond and East Worth streets, according to Toby Trana, a battalion chief with the Stockton Fire Department.
The walnuts were smoldering and facility staff began offloading them from the silo, Trana said. However, staff experienced mechanical issues and weren’t able to remove the walnuts quickly enough. The fire flared up again at about 5:50 p.m. Wednesday…
