Sports Notes: Davis’ Jazmine Turner signs as member of Oklahoma State wrestling

As girls wrestling continues to gain popularity nationwide at the high school level, colleges have started to expand their athletics programs to include women’s wrestling and have looked for wrestlers like Davis’ Jazmine Turner to help deliver success in their first few seasons.

Turner is one of the most accomplished girls wrestlers in the Stanislaus District and finished her senior year this winter as a four-time league champion, a three-time Southern regional champion, a four-time Masters finalist, a two-time Masters champion, a four-time state qualifier, a two-time third place state finisher and the No. 8 wrestler in the country. So when she reached out to Oklahoma State’s women’s club wrestling program, they wasted no time bringing her in.

Turner almost quit the sport. Now, she’s glad she didn’t. On Thursday, May 22, she signed with the Cowgirls to continue her athletic and academic careers…
