Thousands in Lathrop to lose power Saturday during extreme heat

LATHROP, Calif. — Thousands of residents in Lathrop’s River Islands neighborhood are preparing to lose power for most of the daylight hours Saturday, just as temperatures are expected to reach potentially record-breaking highs across the region.

The planned power outage, which could last up to 11 hours between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m., is part of transmission line maintenance conducted by Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E).
