Stockton, CA (June 3, 2025) – — On the evening of June 3, a fatal vehicle crash occurred on northbound Interstate 5 near Downing Avenue, resulting in the death of a 30-year-old Stockton man.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident took place around 6:19 PM when the SUV the man was driving veered off the east asphalt shoulder, struck another unidentified vehicle, and descended a dirt embankment before becoming fully submerged in a nearby slough. Emergency responders arrived promptly but were unable to save the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported sustained at the crash scene. The CHP is investigating the cause of the crash.
