On June 4, Ceres Police officers responded to a stolen vehicle incident within city limits. A slow-speed pursuit began after officers located the vehicle near Magnolia Avenue and 9th Street. The chase ended when the vehicle was stopped. Officers then set up a perimeter and attempted to communicate with the suspect, who did not cooperate with efforts to surrender, as reported by the Ceres Police Department.
The standoff lasted nearly an hour as police used several non-lethal methods to get the suspect to surrender, but the suspect remained inside the car and did not comply.
