Three months after first announcing their new Copa de la Diversión identity, the Stockton Ports’ transformation into the Stockton Cheladas is now in full swing and fans say it’s more than just a name change. It’s a celebration of community, culture and tradition.
The Cheladas, named after the spicy and flavorful Mexican drink, take the field every Sunday at Banner Island Ballpark as part of Copa Sundays, a nationwide Minor League Baseball campaign that highlights Latino heritage through reimagined team branding and ballpark experiences.
“We wanted something that really reflects Stockton,” said Chris Zavaglia, assistant general manager of the Ports. “The chelada is vibrant and rooted in Latino culture just like this city. And we wanted to build something the community could truly connect with.”…
